Print Quality & Framing Guide
Bold prints deserve bold walls. Here's everything you need to know to hang yours with confidence.
Our Papers
Every House Of Stardust print is produced to order on premium paper stocks. We currently offer two options — choose at the product level:
265gsm High Gloss
Our most vibrant option. The high-gloss coating intensifies colour saturation, making it the dream choice for bold, maximalist prints where every hue needs to pop. The heavier 265gsm weight gives a substantial, quality feel that lies flat and frames beautifully.
- Best for: Neon palettes, retro gradients, high-contrast artwork
- Finish: Glossy — expect a light sheen under direct light
- Feel: Smooth, weighty, premium
Premium Poster Paper
A satin-finish poster stock with excellent colour reproduction and a more understated surface. Reduces glare compared to high gloss, making it a great all-rounder for mixed lighting.
- Best for: Detailed line art, muted palettes, gallery-style displays
- Finish: Satin — rich colour without the mirror shine
- Feel: Crisp, professional
Size Guide — A5 to A1
All prints are available in standard ISO A-series sizes. Here's a quick reference to help you choose:
| Size | Dimensions (mm) | Dimensions (inches) | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| A5 | 148 × 210 mm | 5.8 × 8.3" | Desk displays, shelf styling, gallery wall filler |
| A4 | 210 × 297 mm | 8.3 × 11.7" | Smaller walls, bedside tables, grouped arrangements |
| A3 | 297 × 420 mm | 11.7 × 16.5" | Statement pieces, hallways, above desks |
| A2 | 420 × 594 mm | 16.5 × 23.4" | Feature walls, living rooms, larger spaces |
| A1 | 594 × 841 mm | 23.4 × 33.1" | Dramatic statement walls, large rooms, hallways |
Choosing the Right Size for Your Wall
Not sure what size will work in your space? Here's our quick wall-scale cheat sheet:
- Small wall or alcove (under 1m wide): Go for A4 or A3, or cluster a few A5s for an eclectic gallery feel.
- Medium wall (1–1.5m wide): A3 works solo; A2 makes a confident statement. Or mix sizes — a large A2 flanked by A4s looks incredible.
- Large feature wall (1.5m+): A1 commands the space. For a gallery wall, combine A1 + A2 + A3 in an organic arrangement.
- Gallery walls: Odd numbers of prints tend to feel more dynamic. Mix portrait orientations, vary sizes, and keep spacing consistent (around 5–8cm between frames).
Pro tip: Cut pieces of paper to your intended print sizes and tape them to the wall before ordering. It takes 5 minutes and saves a lot of second-guessing.
Framing Your Print
Our prints are designed to be framed. All sizes follow the standard ISO A-series, meaning they fit widely available off-the-shelf frames from IKEA, Desenio, Dunelm, and most high-street homeware stores — no custom framing required.
Frame Style Suggestions
- Thin black metal frame: The go-to for a sleek, modern gallery look. Lets the print speak for itself. Works with everything.
- Natural wood frame: Warm and organic. Pairs beautifully with our botanical and earthy-toned prints.
- Chunky white frame: Maximalist and bold — great for oversized A1 or A2 prints where you want the frame to be part of the statement.
- Ornate or vintage gold frame: A perfect match for our retro and disco-inspired designs. The contrast between gilded frames and bold pop-art prints is *chef's kiss*.
- Frameless/clip frame: Minimal and budget-friendly. Works especially well for A4 and A3 sizes displayed in clusters.
White mount/mat board: Adding a mount inside a larger frame elevates the feel significantly. An A3 print in an A2 frame with a white mount looks seriously luxe.
Colour Expectations
Our prints are produced digitally using professional-grade colour management. Here's what to keep in mind:
- Screen vs. print: Screens emit light; prints reflect it. Colours may appear slightly different from what you see on your monitor — this is completely normal. Reds can look slightly warmer, and very bright neons may appear a touch more muted in print. The overall vibrancy is still excellent.
- High Gloss paper will appear more saturated and punchy; Premium Poster Paper will render colours slightly more true-to-screen.
- Lighting matters: Prints look different under warm bulbs vs. daylight vs. cool LED. We recommend displaying prints in spaces with natural or neutral lighting to get the most accurate colour rendering.
- Monitor calibration: If your screen is very warm or very cool, your print will likely look more accurate than your screen preview suggests.
Care & Display Tips
- Keep away from direct sunlight: Prolonged UV exposure will fade any printed artwork over time. Display in indirect light where possible.
- Avoid damp environments: Bathrooms and kitchens with poor ventilation can cause paper to warp or colours to degrade. For these rooms, frame behind glass for extra protection.
- Handle with clean hands: Natural oils from fingers can leave marks on the surface, especially on glossy paper. Handle from the edges.
- Framing behind glass: Standard glass offers a clean finish. Non-reflective or UV-filtering glass will further protect your print and reduce glare.
- Cleaning: If your frame's glass needs cleaning, spray onto the cloth — never directly onto the print.
